When was the last time you considered the workouts you’ve been doing? Are you busy pounding the pavement and running everyday and getting bored of it? You’re not alone. Plenty of people choose to run every day but they don’t always feel good about it. The thing is, workouts have the capacity to feel boring and if you don’t want to feel that way you need to look at switching out your cardio for something a little harder hitting.
Weightlifting may not have been something you thought about at first, but you can bet that it’s going to be helpful when it comes to your physical health. Weightlifting does, however, go way beyond what you imagine it to be. It’s not just sitting in a gym and pumping iron – though you can do that if you like. It’s more than that. It’s using a powerlifting belt with lever to strengthen your core and learning how to use the leg press against increasingly larger amounts of weight. Weightlifting is going to give your body a ton of different benefits and we’ve listed some of those for you below:
- You’ll get stronger and you’ll feel it. If there’s one thing that you can guarantee with weight lifting is that you’ll feel significantly stronger than you do now. There are so many different types of workouts that you can be doing with different kinds of weights. Doing it regularly, though, is really going to help. When you improve your overall strength through weightlifting, you’re going to find that you are able to move better, you are more agile, and you are stronger in your everyday life. Strengthening your muscles will also help you to minimize pain in your back, pain in your legs, and other pain that you may be having.
- You’ll look better. While it may not be the number one reason that people choose to start weightlifting, it’s a compelling one! Physical attractiveness is a subjective thing but if you have more lean muscle to your body, you’ll feel more confident and therefore, ooze attractive qualities to other people. You don’t have to build your body like Arnold Schwarzenegger, but you do have to consider that muscle will give your body a smoother shape and better stature.
- Your metabolism will ramp up. When you are moving your body regularly, you’ll guarantee that your metabolism will start to improve. Obsessive cardio and HIIT workouts aren’t going to have the same impact on you physically that weightlifting will, and when your metabolism is slow, you’ll find that losing any excess weight is much harder, too. If your goal is maintenance, then a faster metabolism helps you to balance that far better. Weightlifting can help you with that because the more lean muscle tissue you have, the better for your BMR.
- Productivity comes easier. The habits that you build for yourself are far easier to maintain when you are feeling motivated and confident about them. When you lift weights, you’ll feel more productive in developing better and healthier habits. The more you build those habits, the better, and you’ll learn to train with better consistency as a result.
- Dealing with mental health issues is easier. Moving your body is always going to be better for your health, and if you are dealing with depression, you’ll find exercise and weight lifting to be a wonderful outlet for your feelings. It doesn’t matter whether the depression itself is a situational thing or something you regularly struggle with, you need to do what you can to make living life far easier. Lifting weights can help you with that because while it won’t solve all your problems, it will help you to better deal with the position that you are in.
- Your self-confidence will grow. Knowing that you are doing your best for your body is always going to help you with your self-confidence and you’ll find that weight lifting gives you that opportunity. Self-confidence should be something that’s grounded in an unshakable sense of self worth and excitement, but the reality is that it’s not always like that. Looking good physically is going to help you to go a very long way to make you feel better about yourself.
