Changing your life is a big deal. It can take years for people to get to a place where they really want to be in life, but it can also only take a couple of months or a few weeks! And for some, it can take simply a weekend. That’s what we want to focus on here. You’ve got 48 hours to make some dramatic changes to the way you live – can it be done?
In our opinion, yes! You’ve just got to be careful about what you choose to focus on, and the ways you use your time. But that’s why we’ve listed all the points below; if you feel like you need a change and you need it now, we want to help you. Check out our ideas on the best ways to make some big differences in your lifestyle even when you’ve only got Saturday and Sunday to spare.
If you’re thinking about a change, and you’ve got a free weekend, why not use that time?
If You’ve Been Putting Off a Crucial Decision, Make it Now!
Crucial decisions are hard to face simply by their nature. But if you want to change your life within the next 48 hours, sit down and guide yourself to come to a conclusion. You’ve got 2 days to form your final thoughts, have a few conversations, and then get something down on paper.
If you’re thinking about selling the house and moving, now’s the time to decide. If you want to get a new pet and you’re not sure about the logistics, now’s the time to decide. If you like someone and don’t know how to tell them, maybe this is a good time to figure out the words!
Whatever it is that you’re holding back on, face up to it and give yourself the chance for real change. It can be scary to face, but most of the best things in life are!
Try a Different Diet
We’re not talking about crash dieting here. There’s no need for you to go on the Atkins or Paleo for a few months for weight loss or a new waistline. No, instead we’re focusing on ways you can enrich your life through food! Indeed, how you can pad out what you’re currently eating to be more nutritious and filling, or at least a little more exciting.
This is mostly about learning new ways to cook, and being willing to try new ingredients you’ve never considered before. If you’re not sure how to work yam into a recipe, or you don’t tend to choose avocados over apples, maybe it’s time to make that change? And over the coming weekend, it’ll be super easy to head out to the store and grab something new to eat!
In the meantime, get online and find some recipes from different worldly cuisines. If you’ve never cooked an Asian recipe before, you could pick up some wonderful new cooking skills here while just having a bit of fun. Go on and experiment with these recipes, substitute out ingredients here and there, and try something new to eat that could become a staple in your healthy diet.
Throw Out and Replace Your Wardrobe
Your wardrobe might be a little dated at the moment. You find yourself wearing the exact same clothes day in and day out, in the same combinations and to the same places. And that can be a killer for your self expression through fashion! Which is why it’s time for you to throw out your old wardrobe and find something new to wear that feels more like you.
Make some money as you go here; put your old clothes online and sell them secondhand. Then, once you’ve raked in some extra cash, start selecting new tops, bottoms, and accessories.
Put together a Pinterest board to make sure you keep track of what you want to wear/need to include. For example, if you don’t have much comfortable clothing, such as loungewear or oversized sweaters to wrap up in, shop at places like UpWest clothing to find your next outfit to snuggle up in.
Join a Club
Joining a club is good for so many reasons. Number one, it gets you out of the house. Number two, it introduces you to a lot of new people, who could all become fast friends. And number three, you can pick up a new hobby or skill along the way! These are all incredibly mental and social benefits that have a real positive effect on the way your life is going.
No matter what you’re interested in, there’s going to be a club out there for it. Even if you have to get online and do a Zoom session or two, you can sign up to something fun that enriches your life. All good clubs are packed full of people who are worth knowing, and if you’ve been feeling a little lonely recently, this is a good way to get out of that slump.
Start Meditating, or Try Regular Yoga
Meditation is great for both your mental and physical health. You can sit still for a little while, take deep breaths and clear your mind, and give yourself the chance to realign your energy. But if meditation feels a little boring to you, you can always give Yoga a try instead! A lot of the same benefits can be found through these two activities.
Yoga itself is a form of meditation – there’s just a little more going on. You can stretch yourself out and ensure your muscles feel strong and supple, and you can give yourself peace of mind on a weekly basis. Plus, it’s super easy to do Yoga at home. You just need to look up a few tutorials, have a mat to practice on, and go from there.
Give Your Time to Others
Giving your time to others is a very selfless act, but we’re not asking you to do things for nothing in return here. It’s very easy to fall into this trap when it comes to friends and family! We’re actually suggesting you try volunteering; it’s easy to sign up for a few programs in just one weekend.
You could pull a shift in a soup kitchen, apply to volunteer in a charity store, do cleanups of local parks and beaches, or even just do a sponsored run for your favorite charity. Whatever it is you feel you could give back through, look into it now. Not only will you be physically present for other people who need a bit of help, but you can also benefit from the assurance you’re doing a lot of good with your time.
Take Up Your Education Again
If you feel like your resume could do with padding out, or you dropped out of education earlier than you would have liked to, why not take it back up again? There are plenty of online colleges you can sign up to these days, and you can gain a new qualification in a matter of months. All you need is this weekend to get started!
Load up your laptop and take a look around. Remember, the more educated you are, the better your opportunities in the world. What you do with your education is entirely up to you, but you can feel a lot more ready to take on the challenges of life when there’s a degree in your back pocket.
Start Engaging with Your Feelings Properly
How do you deal with your feelings? Maybe you like to talk them through with your loved ones? After all, that’s a very healthy approach to take. But very few people immediately turn to this option when they feel in trouble. Instead it’s a lot more common to bottle things up and try to forget about them.
But to change your life in just a weekend, you can make a promise now to end that habit. You can buy yourself a diary to write your daily moods and ups and downs in, and even call a loved one right now just to ask how they are. Share and share alike!
What Will You Do with These 48 Hours?
Changing your life over the weekend can be done, yes, but it’ll be hard work. It’ll take an awful lot of commitment on your part, and a lot of people aren’t up to that at this point in their lives. But if you really want to make some kind of change, for the good of your health, a tactic like this is a very good place to start.
So think about using ideas like these to make your life look different. Even just throwing out your wardrobe, donating and/or selling your old clothes, and then repacking with new pieces that both look and feel good to wear is a real winner! Think about it: how will it feel once you’ve completed a couple? Keep that thought in mind; it’s very motivating!
