That’s right … Instagram has done it again (or should I say Facebook?)! Back in 2012 Facebook acquired Instagram and from then, changes kept rolling. I remember ranting about a lot of the changes … especially on my facebook – when my timeline have changed, etc etc. Recently, Instagram implemented quite a few updates which involves removing chronological timeline, adding business account features, contact button for business pages and now — Instagram Stories!!! If you’re wondering how it relates to Snapchat … here’s what everyone have to say …
Today, we’re introducing Instagram Stories, a new feature that lets you share all the moments of your day, not just the ones you want to keep on your profile. As you share multiple photos and videos, they appear together in a slideshow format: your story.
With Instagram Stories, you don’t have to worry about overposting. Instead, you can share as much as you want throughout the day — with as much creativity as you want. You can bring your story to life in new ways with text and drawing tools. The photos and videos will disappear after 24 hours and won’t appear on your profile grid or in feed.
You’ll see stories from people you follow in a bar at the top of your feed — from your best friends to your favorite popular accounts. When there’s something new to see, their profile photo will have a colorful ring around it.
To view someone’s story, just tap on their profile photo. It’s easy to view stories at your own pace: tap to go back and forward or swipe to jump to another person’s story. If you want to comment on something you see, you can tap and send a private message to that person on Instagram Direct. Unlike regular posts, there are no likes or public comments.
Your story follows the privacy settings of your account. If you set your account to private, your story is visible only to your followers. However, you can also easily hide your entire story from anyone you don’t want to see it, even if they follow you. When watching your own story, swipe up to check out who’s seen each photo and video. You can even choose to feature a particular part of your story by posting it on your profile.
Instagram has always been a place to share the moments you want to remember. Now you can share your highlights and everything in between, too.
Instagram Stories will be rolling out globally over the next few weeks on iOS and Android. To learn more, check out the Instagram Help Center: help.instagram.com/1660923094227526
Everyone thinks it’s exactly like Snapchat … because it is! You get to share snaps (as much as you want) and the post will not affect your regular post and those stories will expire in 24 hours too. I know, some of you aren’t happy with the update but we’re not here to criticize. Personally I don’t mind having this new feature on Instagram given that I have more friends there and not many of them are using Snapchat. This way I can update them without having to worry about my feed looking spammy and out of order. Slight OCD problem on my end. 😛 I am sharing this post to share a simple hack I accidentally discovered while playing around with the app.
With all honesty I love the filters they offer on Instagram Stories – the second one. Not sure what it is called but it gives off this vintage gray like overcast. I am obsessing over it. Everything is pretty much just like Snapchat — except for ONE (MAJOR) thing — they don’t have the interactive animated filters! Boo. So if you’re like me who’s crazy over the lovely animated filters such as the doggy/puppy ears and tongue, flower crown as well as enchanted butterflies and are wondering how to share the same on Instagram Stories then you’re in the right place! 😉 First things first …
1. Save a Snapchat Photo with Your Choice of Filter
2. Update Your Instagram App
3. Access Your App
4. Tapping the Icon Will Take You to This Screen
5. Swipe Down
6. Find Your Snapchat Photo
TADA!!! Instant Snapchat Filter to Share On Your Instagram Stories
… and you’re all done! All you have to do now is upload more. You can now share all your favorite snaps from Snapchat with all of your favorite filters. This also works for videos. Isn’t that awesome??? Let me know what you think! xx
