There are things in this world that money can’t buy but it can certainly improve a lot of lives. This is what the people behind Western Union’s Chain of Betters initiative truly believes about.
Western Union believes that when money moves, better things happen. A small business grows and expands. A family connects. A child goes to college. An economy prospers and so on. Under their Chain of Betters initiative, the company is aiming to make a difference in the lives of others.
Personally I’ve been a Western Union customer since 2006. Every time I am away from home, I use their service to send money to my family in the Philippines. Be it for in-store or online, Western Union is the only company our family trust as we love their reliability and speedy services.
With Western Union starting the chain, it’s now our time to continue this campaign! There are lots of things you can do to help this campaign or chain moving. In my opinion, we don’t have to be too drastic, one can start with their own community. With the number of homeless family, hungry and uneducated children all over the world, giving some financial support to people or organization who helps them could go a long way.
Start by rallying friends and family to donate a dollar or two for our chosen group. Imagine if each one of our relatives, friends, co-workers as well as acquaintances donates at least $1? The money we can save and raise is more than enough to cover at least a day of feeding for the homeless or a couple of school supplies for quite a few kids!
In fact, I have a college classmate who has been actively helping out in her community. She previously reached out to me if I am interested to help donate school supplies for kids. I have considered participating … but just like everyone else, I failed to take action or initiative. This time around, I am taking a stand … no matter how big or small – every dollar, donation and help counts. With all the being said, I have participated in Western Union’s #ChainOfBetters competition and entered two causes, one for Amy’s Outreach and the other for our Forgotten Veterans who served in the military. I figured trying my luck wouldn’t hurt. To say the least, bringing awareness to these beautiful causes is one step closer to achieving these goals.
A ‘Better’ is ‘a selfless good deed that brings a sustainable improvement to the quality of life or economic empowerment of one or more individuals. Betters might be in the areas of education, healthcare, farming or commerce. Everyone may enter more than one Better, but no more than ten in the Competition Period.
Western Union #ChainOfBetters
This is the idea behind Western Union’s Chain of Betters project. It’s an initiative that empowers people with great opportunity to change the lives of others who are in need. As that money moves around, creating chain of good deeds, together we can make this world a much better place to live in.
Financially helping to feed the homeless or buy school supplies for the needy children is just a few of the many ideas that can make this project succeed. How about you, do you have any idea to share that can start or continue this Chain of Betters?
I was selected for this opportunity as a member of Clever Girls and the content and opinions expressed here are all my own.

February 7, 2017I love everything about this whole concept – we forget sometimes that even the small ways we can help others can really add up to something so much bigger than we could ever expect. This is the first I’ve heard of the #ChainOfBetters campaign – I hope it won’t be the last.
