Things are moving along quite well on our house purchase. In fact, our real estate agent and guild mortgage guy just updated us that everything is set for an on-time closing date by the last week of September. This means in about two months and a couple of days we can officially call this house our home! Of course, there’s still a lot of work to be done. So I have decided to create a design plan with a proposed timeline of how everything will unfold and what makes our story worth following. Let’s put it this way … this is my version of our own “home makeover” ala HGTV style.
… and of course, just like any story or show the main character or stars of the show shares a bit about themselves and what makes them stand out. In other words, what makes us interesting and “OUR WHY”.
This also goes without being said, you can’t grasp the whole picture without an additional history of one’s work background or professional experience.
Now it’s time to share our “Problem” and “Solution” which is quite typical for all the home makeover shows I have watched and followed. If you have seen my favorite show “Fixer Upper” by Chip and Joanna Gaines you’d know that there’s no project too small or too big for them. They would share their client’s problem and then create a plan for a brilliant transformation.
From here you can see the “staged” look of the house we are closing on. None of the furnishings that you see will be included once we close on this property. It will be an empty canvas, and we will need to furnish before we can say it is officially a home we can live in.
Aside from needing new furniture and appliances, we will also need new flooring and some fresh coat of paint in most rooms. Personally, I am not a big fan of the maroon/burgundy accent wall in the master bedroom as well as dining room, lime green paint in the home office, and if you have seen the other spare bedroom –the bright purple and pink walls are simply unappealing! Altogether there’s 5 bedrooms in this house. So you bet there’s a lot of work to be done.
Here’s a proposed timeline for everyone to follow along with. That way, you can easily see all the upcoming updates and be in the know when new things are about to take place.
As soon as our “House to Home” project wraps up, I will create an overall big reveal that features the house transformation.

September 25, 2019Congrats on your new home! This looks like such a fun project! We just downsized from 3600 sq ft to 1100 sq ft and we’re trying to figure out how to decorate, where to store things and what we want to do with our place. I’d much rather watch what you’re doing than figure out what to do at my house! 🙂
