If there is anything I love the most about photography … that would be the adventure and discovery. There is so much to see in this world. From people, places and things. While I enjoy planned getaways, engaging on random stuff while roaming is an absolute thrill. There are times that I like to carry my camera around like a tourist – hanging my camera on my neck while checking everything out like a lost kid. It gives me an excuse to stare and take pictures of everything.
Have you ever roamed around town unplanned? It’s absolutely interesting. Whenever I am in the city I always get mesmerized by people and landscapes. But mostly people. Seeing myself amidst a crowd reminds me how big this world is. As most of you would know, I am a big fan of fashion and style. For those of you who have recently stumbled across my blog … welcome! On this blog, I share my passion for the latest in trends – that includes curating fashion. In my opinion, the best way to see and know the latest is by checking out fashion week. Without any plans or time constraints, I would simply head to the city during the season and check out people. I love taking candid shots because it captures a person’s natural element. Check out my favorite shot …
“Photography is a love affair with life.” — Burk Uzzle
Spontaneous shots are intriguing. The action and momentum are preserved. Unlike when it is planned – you can expect a person to smile and model for the camera. I’d rather see more and leave myself wondering what was going on. I also prefer natural lighting. It frames the subject and helps bring the photo together. If you don’t utilize lighting properly you will end up with a bad picture. Here’s an example of a bad natural lighting that worked against the subject …
Left: Underexposed / Right: Overexposed
Taking photographs is easy … it’s just one click. But taking the perfect shot takes more than just snapping. You need a quality camera like the Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark II – it takes beautiful pictures, minus the fuss. My favorite features are as follow:
- Built-In Wi-Fi for remote shooting and wireless sharing
- 16 Megapixel Live MOS Sensor
- 40 Megapixel High Res Shot Mode (superior resolution!!!)
- 81-Point Selectable Autofocus
- Lightweight, Weatherproof Body
Aside from these amazing features, it is also user-friendly. Making this camera perfect for the seasoned and newbie photographer! I also love that it has an Auto, Art, and Scene mode as well as an HDR button for quick access and help. Sometimes I don’t have the time to adjust my settings, especially when taking candid shots. That’s where the “auto” mode option comes in handy. It saves me from mishaps and missing out on my subjects. While I enjoy taking photographs of people (especially during New York Fashion Week) there is more to see in New York City.
Have you ever been fascinated by fashion week? How about people? Do you also enjoy taking candid photographs? If you can go anywhere in the U.S. … where would you go? I would love to know your thoughts.
If I can go anywhere in the U.S. I would love to go to Las Vegas and check out the top trade shows of apparel and garments. I am sure the showrooms will give me an insight to what fashion is like through other people’s perspective.
Oh, and if you are looking to purchase your first quality camera or to simply upgrade your current one, make sure to check out the latest deal from Olympus – “Travel Light with a Free Flight Promotion” with the purchase of the Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark II through 11/15/2016.
