Have you ever thought of renting furniture instead of buying them for your home? I understand some of you may wonder who would want to rent their furniture out. In fact, it would never have crossed my mind to rent anything out back in the day. Plus, I never knew it was even possible. Even if I did, I would think and assume it’s only “rich-people” stuff. But I couldn’t be more wrong. Believe it or not, there’s a HUGE NEED for renting out furniture.
Here’s the thing … maybe you’re the type of person who loves to redecorate regularly. Or you can be a student who needs to move temporarily during school days. Maybe your family has to move or relocate every few years because of work. Well, I personally have experienced the latter part. As a military family, renting furniture is a deal breaker for us. If you’re unfamiliar how the military life works … you can be living in one country for about a year, maybe two, starting to get comfortable with life THEN suddenly have to relocate because your spouse is getting stationed somewhere else. This has happened to us one too many times for me to count. Obviously, we have to move out so bringing everything is such a hassle.
Finally, my dream of keeping a beautiful well-decorated home is made possible by renting out furniture. With CORT Furniture, shoppers can rent any furniture, decorate a room with their own style or preference, or even avail room packages that are furnished by the professionals. CORT is convenient and cost-effective and could be your perfect flexible alternative to suit your needs.
The lowdown … you have the freedom to rent the furniture by piece or rent it by set. The renting time frame is flexible too – from one month to one year, your choice! Well, at least for me, renting by piece has proven to be an excellent idea because I love to decorate and switch things up.
5 things you can rent for your home instead of buying
1. Bed
After a long day, we all turn in to our beds. We deserve a comfortable spot fit for a king. Making a hard day’s work worth it by having something beautiful to come to. But of course, depending on the style and features, it can be costly too. If you prefer not to ship or deal with the hassle of bringing one home from a store, then renting is the most efficient choice.
2. Cabinets and Storage
After welcoming our son, we had an urgent need to add new storage and cabinets to our home. We don’t really have much room for a permanent one, and it’s a hassle to bring one home by ourselves. You can guess the answer at this point … we opted for renting one out from CORT Furniture as well. This way helps us switch out the furniture to something bigger, or smaller when the need arises.
3. Dining Table and Chairs
As part of our constant relocation and moved, we have our fair share of experience being into different types of apartment, home, and even a townhome. We quickly realized a dilemma after moving to the latter, and that is the lack of space for having a full dining and living room set. This was a significant burden for us given that we moved our furniture with us. We had to get rid of our dining set.
Problem solved temporarily. But it is expensive to buy. So what comes next? Do we just ignore the fact that we don’t have a proper dining area? Of course not. Whatever the reason may be, it can be accommodated by renting. If you’re in a bind like us, wouldn’t you like to have your food eaten at a presentable table and chair instead? My thoughts exactly!
4. Sofa Set or Love Seat
Sofa sets are what welcomes you as soon as you come home. It is the place of relaxation, and a spot for cozying up with your favorite show, game, and even family. This is also where you welcome family as well as friends. From gathering to day to day activities. Why settle for less when you can have your dream living room set up without spending an arm and a leg?
5. Pillows and Home Decor
Using the same old pillows as well as home decor can be boring, I get it. I’ve been there too. That is one of the reasons why I tend to upgrade regularly. Because I wanted to have something presentable and new every now and then. Except, as my husband puts it “how many throw pillows and accents is enough?” …. I used to shrug it off. But he sure does make a point. Why overspend when you can rent? Easily freshen up your home with a décor that will suit your style, preference and even the seasonal change!
Time and time again, I will praise and swear by CORT Furniture, for the apparent reason that their services indeed works wonders for us. It solves a problem. It delivers a solution. Oh and if ever you don’t feel like renting anymore … they also have an option for you to purchase curated pieces from their showroom at a much more friendlier price than MSRP that you see in most stores.
Giving your OLD and even NEW home doesn’t need to be tedious. It shouldn’t also be a hassle. Give CORT a try, and I promise … you’ll love them just as much as we do! Also, Check out the CORT Blog for inspiration.

December 28, 2018Interesting idea! Love the idea that you can go with something larger that you need now and you aren’t committed if you need to downsize to something smaller later. Didn’t realize you could even rent pillows. That’s pretty cool.

December 29, 2018What a nice concept from CORT furniture. I’m always on the move too as a nomad and I think I should consider this next year. Renting beds and cots for babies would be really good for parents on a low budget. Thanks for sharing.

December 29, 2018I had never even thought to consider renting furniture outside of renting tables or chairs for an event. However, I can see so many uses for this including my sister who married a Navy pilot. I definitely see why you recommend it for military families. Or I would imagine for staging houses for sale too.
