Do you ever find yourself in a situation where you want to give a little something to someone, but don’t want to spend a huge amount? Maybe it’s a colleague’s birthday, or perhaps your child’s teacher has gone above and beyond? You just want to show appreciation to a neighbour for putting your bins out or feeding your cat for you while you were away on holiday. Whatever the situation, a small gift that’s nicely done can be super special for your recipient but without breaking the bank- here are some ideas for how to go about it.
Start with a Card
A card with a thoughtful message is an incredibly inexpensive way to add a thoughtful, personal touch to any gift. You can find cards in supermarkets for less that 30p these days and you might just find one with the exact message and sentiment that you’re after. If you want something more heavily personalised then you can get just about anything by personalising a card on a website online. Look through their selection of birthday cards, thank you cards or whatever you’re after and choose one to make changes to, or completely design something yourself from scratch.
Add Some Chocolates
Who doesn’t love chocolate? It’s a fail-safe gift for most people, go with their favourite brand and flavour if you know what it is, otherwise you could take a guess with a popular selection since lets face it, most people will enjoy this! You only need to spend a few pounds on a box and it will always look like a thoughtful gift
A Pretty Mug
If you’re stuck on what to get someone, a pretty mug is a good option- it’s practical and you can use it as a small vessel to fill with other bits and bobs. How about filling it with a bag of coffee beans, a small teddy bear or some bars of chocolate? Wrap the whole thing in cellophane and add a bow to give it a nice finishing touch.
A Beautiful Bouquet
Flowers always give the wow factor, give them alone with a card or combined with one of the little gifts above and you have the perfect token gift. While big bouquets from florists can be really expensive, your local supermarket will have a fantastic selection at all price points so take a look. You could go with a small bunch, or even combine a couple of the cheapest bouquets together to create a stunning yet inexpensive gift.
Wrap It Up
Whether you go with some pretty paper with bows and ribbons or a gift bag filled with a few bits and pieces, the way that you present the gift will have a big impact. Write a gift tag to make it extra special and personal, and you could add some paper shreddings or crepe paper to the inside of the gift bag if you’re using one. If you purchase these kinds of things in bulk they will cost hardly anything each time you use a little when you’re sending a gift.
