From the time I was a young teenager, I was taught the importance of taking care of my body. Of course, these lessons started younger than my teenage years, but it wasn’t until puberty that I actually started taking it all to heart. I was fairly active due to gym class in school and extracurricular activities, had dental hygiene instilled as a child and was a stickler for other areas of personal hygiene. If I had to give one area of my daily routine that I was most stringent about, aside from the usual, I’d have to say it was my daily beauty regime.
Now, when I say beauty regime, most people might think I’m talking about makeup. While I did wear a little bit of gloss and eyeliner from time to time, I was more concerned about the overall health of my skin rather than highlighting my natural features. I had so many friends who covered their faces in large amounts of makeup and who struggled with acne because of the products they used, but looking back, I’m so thankful I managed to sidestep those pesky issues myself.
Now, however, that I’m older and also expecting our miracle child, I have started to notice some changes in my skin. My skin has experienced the effects of pregnancy hormones at times. A random pimple here, a bit of redness there and of course, a complaint by pregnant women everywhere, those pesky dark circles under my eyes.
