Yes, it’s officially Breast Cancer Awareness Month – an annual campaign to help increase awareness to the 2nd deadliest cause of death for women around the world. In fact, it is one of the most common cancer among women and each year in the US there are more than 200,000 women who gets breast cancer and more than 40,000 women who dies from this nasty disease. It’s simply heartbreaking.
Back in California (2006) I worked for someone who supports Breast Cancer who introduced me to the cause. I knew about it but I never seen it the way others do until last month. A few weeks back (mid-September) I had the scare of my life. Some people may say I am too young for this illness, but when you start seeing and feeling changes on your breast … 29 doesn’t feel as young. It all started with a mild pain and a small lump on my right breast. I tried to shrug it off at first but the lump started to hurt even more. Hubby took me to the ER right away and the doctor informed me it was “just” breast abscess and not breast cancer. I am not trying to say abscess isn’t to be taken seriously but next to cancer you bet I felt absolutely relieved. Call me a cry-baby but as soon as the doctor ruled out cancer, I burst out tears I have been holding back. Since then, my perspective and devotion for the cause completely changed.
So I ask you all to try to make a difference and get involved. We all need to join hands together against Breast Cancer. With Glamulet we can show our support with their pink charms.
