Are you thinking about spending this summer exploring America? If so, then you need to pick the perfect place to visit. We think one of the best options is the east coast. You can plan an entire road trip cruising up the east coast of America and never run out of different activities to explore. Let’s take a look at some of the best places to visit and the experiences that you could encounter once you get there.
Florida
First, you should think about taking a trip to Florida. Florida has countless delights that are worth uncovering for yourself. If you are traveling with kids, then you shouldn’t miss the big theme parks including Disney World and Universal Orlando. Even if you don’t have kids, there’s something for everyone here from big thrills to amazing thrills. It’s just a case of deciding what type of vacation experience you are looking for.
Of course, this is just the start of what Florida has to offer. Once you’ve hit the theme parks in Florida, you should take a trip to Miami. Here, you’ll discover some of the best beaches in the world including South Beach. This is also one of the most serene locations on the West Coast for fishing. Miami inshore fishing is not to be missed whether you have experienced this activity before or not.
Miami is also filled with lots of culture activities that are definitely worth uncovering. You should head to the Design Outlet. This is the ideal spot to hit the shops or get a tasty bite to eat.
New York
Perhaps you would prefer a true urban adventure this year? If that’s the case, then you should continue your journey along the East coast to visit New York. New York City never sleeps and once you get there, you’ll find out why. There’s always something to see and do. As well as the classic tourist hot spots including the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty, there are other activities. For instance, this is a great place to book a show. There’s nothing quite like experiencing a show on Broadway.
Or, you could spend a day or two wandering through Central Park. There are guided tours that will ensure that you don’t miss any of the iconic locations. Don’t forget that a lot of movies and TV shows have been filmed on location here. So, if you are a film buff, this is definitely the place for you. If you head over in the winter, it’s also wonderful to see the park covered in a fresh layer of snow.
Washington, DC
Continue your journey with a trip to Washington, DC. Arguably, the greatest selling point of this location is the sites that you will be able to discover here. For instance, you can go and visit the White House. While there’s no way to get anywhere near the front door without an invitation, there are guided tours that will allow you to see certain elements of the West Wing. It’s not quite like the TV Show but if you’re lucky, you might spot some of the senior members of staff. To do this, you just need to make sure that you book for a public tour.
Similar to New York, a lot of great shows and films have been shot on location here too. So, you’re bound to spot at least a few familiar places that might be of interest to you.
North Carolina
Finally, you could finish up your trip on the East coast by visiting North Carolina. Home to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, there are more than 500 acres of greenery to explore here. You’ll be amazed at the beautiful locations and the picture perfect paradise. This is also a great spot for trying different adventure activities. Indeed, the right time to visit the Smokey’s will depend on what you want to do once you get there. At the very least, you should visit Cades Cove. If you’re feeling brave, you can also consider taking a trip up to the tip of Clingmans Dome or Mt. Leconte. These are two of the park’s biggest peaks and absolutely worth the adventure it will take to get to the top.
We hope this helps you see that there are countless fantastic, incredible places to visit and things to do along America’s East coast. You’ll need an entire summer to fit everything that we mentioned in and we’ve only scratched the surface of what you’ll find waiting for you if you do decide to take this trip yourself.
