The Governors Ball Music Festival took place from June 2nd to June 4th, and I was there! With modern day chart toppers like Chance the Rapper and Lorde and old school favorites like Wu-Tang Clan and Tool, The Governors Ball Music Festival, held at Randall’s Island Park in New York City, has great music for a variety of tastes and an atmosphere of fun. I had a very good time, and I’ll be back again next year if at all possible!
The Governors Ball Music Festival is all About Fun
In today’s world of global tension, horrifying news stories, and a hyper politicized atmosphere here in the USA that is palpable every day, it was nice to attend a festival that is purely about fun and music. From the time I arrived to the time I left, there was music and laughter in the air. It was an event that seemed to bring out the best in people, with strangers talking about bands and laughing together. I met several people who were eager to talk with me about our favorite bands which in turn lead to us just talking about life in general. It’s the kind of atmosphere that you don’t often find these days, and it was purely amazing.

The Music
Oh, the music. There was so much of it. This was one of the best music festivals I’ve been to in a long time. I mentioned Chance the Rapper and a few others, but in total there were over 60 bands there ranging from rappers to hard rock, and I made sure I took in a little bit of everything. Of course, I had to see Chance the Rapper, Wu-Tang Clan, and Wiz Khalifa, but I also made sure to get in some rock and roll. Bands like Tool and Cage the Elephant got us all rocking in a big way! I’m certain that this music fest alone has gotten my baby used to the music. It was certainly loud enough for the baby to hear it all! 😉
The Day
The Governors Ball Music Festival was an open air, lawn situation, so I made sure I brought some chairs, a blanket, water, and snacks. I love that kind of setting. While I listened to great music, I had my toes in the grass. I soaked up the day on all fronts. And although due to my pregnancy, I was just about the only person there NOT getting my drink on, it was still a wonderful escape from the day to day hustle that is my norm. Sitting back and relaxing was a great relief for me and between the music, the grass, and the friendly atmosphere, I had some of the best days of my pregnancy to date!
The Snacks
When you go to an event like The Governors Ball Music Festival, you need to bring plenty of water and snacks. Luckily, I have a big bag perfect for that sort of thing. I also had plenty of snacks thanks to Sour Punch Candy. One of my favorite things to do at any festival is chow down on some yummy candy, and since Sour Punch Candy was awesome enough to sponsor my trip to the festival and give me tons of their candies, I was set! I brought along some water, a few sandwiches, and some chips to cover all my bases and I was ready to go!
The candies made a wonderful compliment to the music and the fun atmosphere of the day. Their first-sour-then-sweet flavor fits in perfectly with the musical lineup of the fest, and wonder of wonders – I got through the entire thing with minimal stomach issues. I guess Sour Patch is my new medicine for morning sickness!
The Governors Ball Music Festival and Sour Punch Candy – A Super Fun Combo
I had a blast at the Governors Ball Music Festival, and I have Sour Punch Candy to thank for that. It was three days of music, fun, and food that I won’t ever forget. In fact, I’d put it up there as one of the highlights of my pregnancy. If you ever get the chance to experience The Governors Ball Music Festival, I highly encourage you to go for it. Even if you can’t get to the festival, you can go out and get some Sour Punch Candy. It’s yummy stuff, and it makes any event better!

August 17, 2017I love open air concerts because there is room to breathe still. I’m a bit claustrophobic lately and a closed concert is hard for me due to the loud noise.
Sour Punch candy is one of my favorites too.
