Snacking – one word that means 1001 things for me (if not more). Some would say it’s bad, a few would say it’s okay … but rarely would I hear or read a statement that would say it’s healthy or to say the least, a great option. Yes, we know junk foods is not good for us (in any way) but what most people do not know is that there are healthy snacks in the market (or simple have no clue how to come up with healthy snack ideas) even more, delicious too! One thing I swear by is snacking on a regular basis throughout the day. I am one of those people who gets hungry every 3-4 hours despite having a full meal.
Some people would ask, do I diet or workout because of how I eat – the answer to that is always a NO. I do not and rarely do I ever go to the gym. I rarely exercise nor workout in any way. My husband does, but not me. Dieting is not for me because I feel deprived from doing so and often times it just causes me to spiral down and binge eat afterwards. Since I eat a lot, people around me wonders (and ask me often) why do I not gain weight. To be clear, I actually do. It is very subtle that not a lot of people would notice. However, I do. The only way I was able to keep things in the down low is by eating healthy foods and most recently – healthy snacking too!
This year I have turned 30 – and finally noticed how my unhealthy choices have affected my body, weight and health. I eat a lot and used to munch on any snacks. I tried my best to keep my snacking in control but if I am snacking on junk foods, it does not help me in the end. Therefore, I have made a small change in my eating habits. That is switching to healthy snacking. While there are numerous products out there in the market, I have rounded up my favorite healthy snack ideas that have become an instant favorite. Check out my snacking substitutes below …
Weight Watchers Whipped Cream Cheese
I often start my day with a delicious slice of brioche, baguette or raisin bread with a light spread of Weight Watchers whipped cream cheese spread with chive and onion – it is healthy, delicious and very filling. Every serving (2 tbsp.) is only 60 calories! Each spread is cloud-like; it is so fluffy and light. Each bite is very fulfilling. It satisfies my hunger and cravings. I love pairing my breakfast with a cup of coffee or a bottle of reduced-fat milk. It keeps me full a lot longer too.
Weight Watchers Healthy Pop Butter
Since I do get hungry every few hours throughout the day, one of my snack picks is Weight Watchers healthy pop butter flavor popcorn. Great while watching a movie or in between writing an editorial or engaging in social media. Being a blogger it is easy to get side tracked and eat to my heart’s content. Why this popcorn? Because it is a great snack alternative to chips and soda, Plus the fact that it is only 20 calories per cup and 94% fat free! Hello butter.
Occasionally I like to mix things up. Here are some ways to enjoy the cream cheese and popcorn that will surely surprise your taste buds!
1. Mix’em up – that is right … combine them both. Once your popcorn is ready, grab a few pieces one by one and dip it on the cream cheese. Toss it back on the popcorn bag along with a few undipped ones and shake! Combine with the rest and enjoy.
2. Fruits and dip – strawberries dipped on cream cheese is very scrumptious! Treat your buds right.
3. Sweet & Salty – just like option #1 pop your choice of popcorn and add a few crumbles of Weight Watchers salted caramel brownie bliss! Heaven. It’s my personalized version or caramel popcorn.
For those (gloomy) days that need a much more indulging snack, I opt for Weight Watchers® Frozen Yogurt Strawberry Smoothie or the NEW English Toffee Crunch Ice Cream Bar – I promise you, it is crazily delectable! To top it all, my go-to snacks are readily available in my local Shoprite store which is ShopRite of Burlington at Mount Holly Rd. It’s about 10 minutes away or less. Totally convenient!
Keeping these healthy snack ideas in mind will help you eat healthy and right, even when you are snacking! For those of you who also shops at Shoprite between 9/11 and 9/24, you’ll receive a coupon for $5 off your next purchase when you buy $15 worth of Weight Watchers snacks while supplies last. Select stores will have a sampling event on 9/18 between 10-4, stop by to try great products and get a coupon!
