Explore, Rescue, Protect! An Octonauts Themed Lunch Party

As a mom to two inquisitive toddlers, I always look for a creative approach to teach them life skills, help them learn, and to keep them entertained. Mind you, the latter is the most challenging given that they have a short attention span. I honestly thought finding an activity that will keep them both engaged at the same time is close to impossible, if not utterly challenging. Then I came across Movie Themed Dinner Parties, a fun twist to a traditional family movie night. That’s when I knew I chanced upon a gold mine.

While my little ones aren’t much into movies just yet, they sure do enjoy a marathon of their favorite show. So I figured, we can Netflix and Chill, but add in a themed set-up to make it more fun and exciting! To kick things off with our new tradition, we went Above & Beyond and got the boys set up to Explore, Rescue, and Protect with the Octonauts! Imagine having their favorite show, their favorite characters and vehicles with actual Octonauts Toys, plus yummy treats … and we got ourselves a recipe for happy toddlers. Mind you, things turned out as I expected them to be … AND MORE. According to our five-year-old, the surprise party was SUPER AMAZING!

So for those of you who are new to themed lunches/dinners like me, it is inspired by the show that you will be watching. The food that you will serve will feature actual food that was depicted in the show or at least with some resemblance to the characters. For example, because the Octonauts are a crew of animals who lives in an underwater base, our theme would be ocean or sea-themed. Often, than not, there’s also a menu and a food sign with a creative take on its traditional name. Check out my version below …

The food sign featured some of the characters of the show while making sure the actual food or snack and the new name for it pair well together.

What is it about the Octonauts that we love? They are amazing adventure heroes that fearlessly dive into action whenever there is some kind of trouble under the sea. They rescue sea creatures across the underwater world while also protecting the ocean. The show is very educational and features a creature report with actual footage of the aquatic animal that was rescued in the episode.

As for the toys … they’re Now Available at Walmart! If you’ve been following my social media updates or my blog content, you’d know your girl is a big Walmart fan.
