If you are in the process of moving house then you may already be experiencing high levels of stress and worry. It is not easy to move a whole interior of a house in a matter of days. Start early and take your time, there is no rush. Take a look below to find out how you can take the stress out of moving.
Slow & Steady
Moving house doesn’t have to be a race for the finish line. You can do it slowly and at your own pace. However, if you need to move house within a set time then you may have to rush a little bit. If you give yourself more time than necessary then you won’t feel any added stress that you won’t have time to do everything. Moving is a big task, some might say the most stressful in your life. Do little bits of packing and tidying here and there, Rome wasn’t built in a day and you don’t need to have everything done in a day either.
Book Removals
If you decide to make use of a removals company then these need to be booked in advance. They also get booked up pretty quickly so as soon as you know your dates, get it booked in. Also, when it comes to removal companies make sure you do your homework and check them out before booking. The last thing you want is a non-genuine company helping you move. You can check out reviews from previous customers and clients to find out if you are comfortable with that particular company.
Self-Storage
Don’t be afraid to utilize a service that is there to help you out. Self-storage units have been around for quite some time, giving folks the option to store their belongings away from home. When it comes to moving and putting your current home on the market, you may want to book a small unit. Opening up your current home to viewings means that you need to spend some time decluttering and packing away bits you know you won’t need until you move. You don’t want these boxes cluttering up your home so place them in cheap storages to keep them out of the way.
Lists Matter
Lists are your friends when it comes to moving house. You can never have too many and you could even make one for every room in your current home or new home. Lists definitely take the stress level down a bit as you know what to predict. It may also help you to list any precious items that have been packed and which boxes they are in so you can find them in your new house. When you know you will be moving, make a list of all the jobs and tasks that need doing. Tick them off as and when you have done them and then there is no last minute panic that you forgot to do something.
We hope you found this article helpful and it gives you lots of insight and tips on how to make your move less stressful.

July 25, 2022“Lists are your friend” is something I would say! When we moved from one state to another and had to put a lot in storage for a few months, I have every box labeled with a number and a spreadsheet of exactly what was in every box. That way, when we needed something, I knew exactly which box to grab!
