Day 1 – Arrival at New York City for the Nokia Zoom Reinvented Event. My head went topsy turvy in the airport for not finding my luggage right away. I literally get horrified whenever my luggage is nowhere to be found after a few minutes of checking out the carousel. This time I spent a good old 20 minutes staring and pulling out luggage bags if it “might” be mine … only to find my bag under someone else’s. At least I didn’t have trouble finding the right person to assist me to find my assigned Zoom Reinvented driver to the hotel.

While waiting for the driver to arrive, I waited along with a few other guests who apparently are press people. One was curious enough to ask me what do I do and when I said I am a Fashion, Beauty & Lifestyle blogger, he frowned upon me and asked what the relation with Nokia is. Seriously? You are in the press and you are wondering about that? Technology related bloggers may be the first choice to invite to such events, but it is the Mommy bloggers, Travel & Backpacker bloggers and Beauty and Fashion bloggers alike who can relate more to the product as we are mostly the targeted consumers. Who uses these gadgets with their day to day activity and help promote products without them even knowing it … us. Like when I upload a picture on instagram, I get asked by friends what camera I used, what app to create effects or fonts and what not. That’s the relation.

In the limo cab I met and got acquainted with Sam J Pullen and Jay Montano whom had been very nice to me and welcomed me like as if I am not a complete stranger. Exchanged conversation and ideas and learned that this wasn’t their first event. Then we exchanged ideas to what the Nokia Zoom Reinvented Event will be about. Felt like they weren’t a complete stranger and like I’ve known them for a while. Most likely that’s the blogger in me saying that. Upon arrival we checked ourselves in and decided to meet up in half an hour on the hotel lobby.

We met up with a few other guests and some of the Nokia Connects team. Finally got to meet Katie who invited me and as well as Carla who is also from NC in London. They’re sooo amazing and I super grateful to have been invited to the event. We headed out to the city and walked to the center. We all enjoyed some sight-seeing before reaching our final venue the R Lounge.

The meet and greet was super fun. The food was alright. Sam and I were hoping for something more basic. Probably because I have been around in Italy for so long that I miss the good old basic American food. Like burgers, hotdogs, fries and the whole nine yards of street foods that I have grown to love and miss. Overall, the whole night was fun. Got to know a lot of people and I really wish with all my heart that this won’t be my first and last event with Nokia. Before ending the night … Sam and I ordered a medium sized Pink Berry. I am in love … the sticky, hot and uncomfortable weather was just overwhelming on the way home so finishing it off with a frozen yogurt is the perfect touch. Ready for day 2 and rock the Nokia Zoom Reinvented Event.
