The last year has been a strange one and with different lockdown rules and restrictions, getting fit has been a challenge. Having to stay in and not having reasons to go out or even get out of bed some days, it is even more important than ever to get active. Whether you are wanting to get shredded quick, looking to lose some weight, or it’s a new years resolution you are trying to complete, below are four exercises you can do in the comfort of your own home.
Jogging
This is my personal favorite. The boys and I get to have some fresh air while jogging and walking around our neighborhood. It’s a great way to stretch and flex those muscles. It’s not as strenuous, but it still gets the job done. I often take them for a stroll using our lightweight stroller, so whenever I need to burn a few extra calories I simply switch it up and jog around.
Skipping
Do you remember the days you were at school and used to jump rope a lot? Back then it seemed easy, and fun to do. Now, it’s still fun to do but not so easy! You’ll be surprised at how many calories you can burn in an hour of skipping and just how tired you will be after. Buying a skipping rope isn’t very expensive and it can be done in the comfort of your own living room.
Home Workout
If you’ve been missing the gym and gym classes, then you may want to turn to a home workout. Search Youtube and you will find many classes that you can do in the comfort of your living room in front of your tv. Whether you did choose to do yoga, a Les Mills class, or circuits there are options for everyone. Plus, Youtube is free so you don’t have to pay a subscription. There are some companies out there that you can subscribe to if you want more in-depth classes after enjoying your Youtube ones.
Trampolining
Trampolining has many fitness benefits. Not only is it extremely fun, but you’ll be exercising without even realizing you are. If you have children you can bounce together or without, you can learn to do flips and seat drops. Trampolining is great for building strength as well as losing weight so you get the best of both worlds. There is a range of trampolines available, from large ones for the garden to small fitness trampolines you can put in your living room.
Running
This is a common go-to when the gyms are shut as it requires no equipment or money to be spent. All you need is a pair of running shoes and you’re off. There are many running apps that you can use to track your progress and keep trying to beat your best time. Running is great for burning calories, losing weight and if you enjoy it you can always opt for a half marathon or really push yourself and run a full marathon. If you want some company you can always get your friends or family members to join you for a bit of extra motivation.
Overall, there are many ways of exercising in your own home, it’s just about choosing which one is best for you and the one that you enjoy the most.
