Disney’s latest addition to its “classic remake” is well known as a family favorite – The Lion King! This recreation, however, steered away from the cartoony version. Yet it is still the same classic movie that everyone has seen and loved 25 years ago.
The Lion King is definitely one of those movies that will play with your heartstrings and keep you wanting for more as the story of a young lion named Simba unfolds. I honestly feel like everyone should know the movie especially those who have kids. It is definitely one for the books, and I honestly can’t wait for our little ones to be introduced to this fantastic story.
For those of you who are wondering why we highly recommend and love this movie, here’s a quick recap of the plot …
Simba plays the role of Mufasa and Sarabi’s son, making him the prince of pride rock. As the main character and protagonist of the story, there will always be a twist in the plot. On this fan-favorite fairytale, the antagonist did not come far from home. Scar, who happens to be Mufasa’s younger brother, is known to have been envious and jealous of his older brother’s position as the king of Pride Lands. He then plotted against his own family to kill both Mufasa and Simba by falling into a wildebeest stampede. Simba however survived, and Scar had to manipulate the young cub into believing that his father’s death was his fault. This made him run away from the Pride Lands and allowed Scar to become the new king. Simba lived in the jungle and adapted a “Hakuna Matata” lifestyle with his two new friends Timon, an animated meerkat, and Pumbaa, a very chill yet gluttonous warthog. Years had passed, Simba returns home to save Pride Rock with the help of his childhood friend Nala, ready to reclaim the throne that was once stolen from him as well as his father by his treacherous uncle.
The Lion King
Here’s the major catch for this latest remake … it gave a lot of fans and critics mixed feelings by changing the aesthetic of the film and converting it into an “Animal Planet” / “BBC Planet Earth” style. Personally, though, despite the changes in its animation style, I must say that the storyline is still a grand adventure about a young cub’s growth into the king of Pride Rock. The way it was presented may have been different, but it still is the same film and roars just like the original. Whatever the case may be, it all comes down to preference, and The Lion King movie will always be (no matter what style or form it takes) an all-time favorite.
