The Ring Video Doorbell is an innovative nifty device that takes security (and the traditional doorbell) to a whole new level. No more chasing after the door (not all of us have lightning speed like the Flash) so we won’t miss out on package deliveries, or worries with package theft … and security for those late night visitors or orders. This straightforward home accessory puts security first above everything else. Sounds amazing right? The Smart Access: Ring Video Doorbell (SKU 5814005) is super easy to install and is compatible with both iOs, android and windows 10 devices.
This smart device comes pre-packaged with everything needed to be installed properly – along with an easy-to-follow instruction and video tutorial guide through the app. Check out my unboxing below:
Ring Video Doorbell
Setting it up requires to be connected to a WiFi which allows its HD (720p) camera to be accessed through the app anywhere in the world. This device is dual powered and can be powered through the existing doorbell wires in every home or with the built-in 5,200 mAh rechargeable battery. Since our current one wasn’t strategically placed and is installed in the doorpost, it leaves me with very little room for the RIng Video Doorbell. With that being said I powered mine with the battery (charged with Micro USB cable provided through the port on the backside) and screwed it to the wall right beside our door. No heavy artillery, handyman or power tools needed.
Pros:
- Mobile Access
- Two-Way Talk
- HD Camera
- Motion Detection
- Dual Power
- Certified for Outdoor Usage (no matter the weather condition)
- Night Vision
- Easy Installation
- Cloud Recording
- Lifetime Purchase Protection (if the ring video doorbell gets stolen, the company will replace it free of charge).
Con:
- Just 1 – the marketing photos looks like a regular wide-angle video footage but in actualization the housing around the lens show the circular edge which resembles a fish-eye lens without the wide distortion. Other than that I have no other complaints. It’s not a major flaw in any way and doesn’t interfere with its function. Maybe in the future upgraded models they can modify the housing around the lens.
Ring Video Doorbell in Action
Being married to an airman who’s always on the go, he agrees that is an amazing device to own. We share access within the app that allows us to have access to the same notification and video feed. I can be in the shower or lounging in my home office and hubby can be at work or even somewhere across the world – no matter what we’re #alwayshome.
With the help of the Ring Video Doorbell we can see who’s ringing before answering (records footage for every ring), monitor motion outside our house with customizable zones and range up to 30ft (records footage when activity is detected) even see in the dark with night vision … with all that it has to offer, we surely feel so much at ease and safer.
Check out BestBuy.com and take your security to the next level with Ring.

January 18, 2017This is an awesome idea. I don’t usually answer my door to be honest, but this might make me feel more inclined to answer 🙂

January 19, 2017I love this!! We homeschool, and stay home most of the time in our pj’s. We live on a busy street, and people that break down, wreck, sell something, or want to tell us about their religion come to the door all the time. We just choose to get quite and not answer. I’d love to have this option to see who it is. I’ve missed the mail man many times.

January 19, 2017My hubby loves gadgets so I’ll share the post with him. I can see how perfect this would be for elderly or disabled folks who can’t run to the door!

January 19, 2017My stepson got caught at his girlfriend’s house when she was on restriction because they ordered pizza and her parents’ got notification & watched the pizza delivery on their phones (while 45 miles way). It’s brilliant for everyone but especially parents!

January 19, 2017If someone rings my doorbell – we all sort of panic – like “who’s there”! We live at the end of a dead end street and our house is around a bend – so no one ever comes to our house!
Karen
January 19, 2017Wow – love how technology keeps making cooler and more efficient things like this doorbell! I wish I could use this, but my old farmhouse doesnt even have A doorbell. Just gotta knock!

January 19, 2017THis is a very neat idea!! Haha specially for packages that you really want but they can’t just leave on your door step and run away quickly! technology is getting so innovated these days

January 20, 2017I love the idea of being able to see if there is any motion outside. We have an all glass door so can see who it is before we answer but I would have loved this in our last house.

January 22, 2017That is so neat, I love best buy. I currently have a very small home (living in a minihome atm) so it wouldn’t really be necessary but when I build my house it is definitely something i’d want to look into.
