Lately I have been hearing so much about Yves Saint Laurent’s latest glossy balm collection. The Beauty blogger divas I know have been hyping on how much they love their glossy balm. Surely, I am one of those few who easily get enticed to try it out for myself and see if it really is worth all the hype. Without wasting any time, I checked out the YSL website and immediately ordered my very first Yves Saint Laurent Glossy Balm. I’ve decided to try and order the #04 Succulent Pomegranate which is in sheer bright pink with a hint of red undertones.
The Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupté Sheer Candy Glossy Balm Collection comes in a wide range of shades to choose from. From the YSL website there are a total of 10 different shades. While websites like Sephora offers the YSL Glossy Balm in 12 different shades. Each glossy balm retails for $32 + shipping. As seen below is the available collection from the YSL site.
Each passing day I waited for the mailman to arrive. When my glossy balm finally arrived, I couldn’t express how excited I am. Most probably because I just spent a good chunk + shipping for one glossy balm. Yep. Just one. One glossy lip balm that would to a few piece of chapstick already for that amount. Then again, I can’t really compare the two as I have never tried the Yves Saint Laurent Glossy Balm until now. As I popped the glossy balm off the envelope lined with bubble wrap I noticed right off that the packaging is really nice and fancy. The box is quite glossy with detailed information about the product. As I have removed the lip balm off the packaging I am simply blow away. No wonder it cost $32!!! It looks really fabulous and sophisticated. The metal casing is not cheap and feels heavy and sturdy to touch. There’s a beautiful design engraved / etched on the casing revealing a YSL logo imprint. Right then and there I just fell in love. Check out the detailed photos I took for reference. I tried my best to capture all the angles even a close-up of the YSL logo so you can all see what I am hyping about.

The moment I have swatched the glossy balm at the back of my hand I immediately noticed how highly pigmented the product is. The fact that it is a “lip balm” and not a lipstick or lip gloss makes it even more amazing. As I applied the glossy balm on my lips it felt like as if it is melting on my lips. It easily spreads and leaves my lips feeling soft, kissable and well hydrated for a long period of time. From my observation it is very effective for about 4-hours even if the site claims it will leave your lips feeling hydrated up to 8-hours. No woman who’s outside wouldn’t try and re-apply and do a touch up for straight 8-hours. That’s just my opinion though.
Overall – it is definitely worth the purchase and I seriously am [as much as I want to stop myself] going to purchase some of the other shades. Just a few more shades as I am not a big fan of all the shades in the collection. I’d give this product a whopping 9/10 rating … I’d give a 10/10 if it were a bit lesser in price. Altogether I love it and there’s no con’s found in any way aside from the cost. I am after all a thrifty shopper and I try my best to shop for bargain deals as much as I can.
FTC: I am not in any way affiliated with Yves Saint Laurent. I have purchased this product for my honest review and this is 100% my honest opinion.
